Statera 'Remix Vol I' Elkton 2021 (750 ml)

New wine (and new wine series): 50% Chardonnay, 50% Melon de Bourgogne, all from Tuckaway Vineyard in the Elkton AVA.

We're introducing a new remix series, where we combine Chardonnay with other grapes, from the same vineyard. Our first release is a Melon, Chard combo that we're very excited about. The Chardonnay was direct pressed and barrel aged and fermented for 16 months. The Melon was whole berry soaked for three days, prior to pressing, and barrel fermentation and aging for 16 months. The wine smells both like melon and chardonnay, and the pallet has depth and complexity from the long lees aging; it's great, and so fun for us to play with some new grape varieties.

Statera Cellars is owned and operated by two friends, Meredith Bell and Luke Wylde. Since 2014, it has been our mission to make delicious, honest Chardonnay from the most distinct vineyards in our region. We are one of the only wineries in the Willamette Valley to exclusively make Chardonnay—we love the grape and want to showcase its potential and diversity in the Pacific Northwest. Our wines are made using natural and traditional winemaking practices, resulting in wines that are compelling and markedly alive.

We work with farmers who are true stewards of the land, who see the vineyard as part of an ecosystem, and do their best to grow grapes in a way that respects and celebrates diversity. We genuinely believe that these farmers get most of the credit for the quality of our wine.
