Tasting Notes The 2022 Grenache Dorigo Family Vineyard is one of the more extroverted cuvées in this lineup, befitting of its location in Ballard Canyon. That richness works well to play off the generally restrained style here. Dark plum, leather, spice, licorice and lavender bring out the darker side of Grenache, especially compared with the other wines in the range.

Dorigo Family Vineyard marks our first foray into the heralded sands of Ballard Canyon. Yes, this AVA may spell Limestone-heaven for Syrah... though for Grenache, sand is where my interest in alchemy is piqued. And this south-facing slope planted to 369 clone marks a first in our grace family 🩵.

We took over the farming of this vineyard in 2022, having sourced fruit for a number of years for our partner label, Land of Saints. The vineyard sits on a 20-acre parcel, with seven acres planted to both Grenache and Syrah. So, we like to call this our grace and Saints monopole. One day we dream of pick-up parties with Tony Khalife playing, but until that time comes...

...

I am a New Zealand born winemaker who moved to California in 2006 with the dream of making Grenache. In the land from which I stem, the climate is too cool to ripen this sun-loving beauty. And so began my search: northern Spain, southern France, southern Australia, California…

Abundant sunshine and entrepreneurial spirit led me to the latter, and in 2007 I sourced my first Grenache fruit from the Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard. Nestled high above the Pacific Ocean and 33 miles inland, this high-desert vineyard provided the perfect balance of heat and light I sought.

I chose to name my label after two of my favourite things: my Grandmother Grace, and my most beloved attribute. My winemaking intention is to capture this spirit, and stay as close to nature as humanly possible. The trio is completed by the grape itself, which to me encapsulates grace.

To grace and Grace,

Angela Osborne
