This wine, made from 100% old-vine Nerello Mascalese, is from a family that has owned vineyards and made wine on Etna since 1860. Brother and sister winemaking team Giacomo and Flavia Rallo have taken the lead in continuing the tradition of making organic, natural wines to best showcase their family's vineyards. The vines, between 20 and 30 years old, come from some of the best terroirs on the volcano: the North Slope of Mount Etna, in the Zottorinoto and Puntale Palino contrada of Solicchiata, a hamlet of Castiglione di Sicilia, at 950 meters (3116 feet) altitude and on sandy volcanic soils. They are treated Organically, hand-harvested, wild yeast fermented in stainless steel, then aged 12 months in used Slavonian oak. Once bottled lightly fined and lightly filtered, with a drop of SO2, they age another 12 months in bottle. This is the epitome of Mount Etna, with smoky dark juicy fruit, notes of meat, spicy, with a long, delicious finish. Even better, it offers a fantastic value as it's in a LITER bottle, the ONLY wine in Liter coming off the volcano.

THE STORY OF A LOVE

The Flavia Rebellious Wines family is a mélange of cultural dimensions that derive from expert hands and industrious minds passed down through four generations who deeply believe in the values of craftsmanship, native vines and the final quality of a wine that is authentic. The family history is made up of rigor and constancy, since 1860 they have taken care of the land and the plant like a mother does for her children.

The love for wines has its roots in the Trapani area when the great-grandfather Francesco Rallo moved to the Sicilian countryside and began working on his first plots of land in the Baiata district. The business was taken over by Grandfather Giacomo, who passed on the passion and love of doing things with the heart to his son Francesco Rallo, who, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, continued to pass it down from father to son the founding values keeping the family tradition high to this day.

THE FOURTH GENERATION

Young and zealous producers, Flavia and Giacomo Rallo represent the fourth generation of the Rallo family from Marsala. Their philosophy is identified in the valorization of the pure essence of wine and its nature, practicing sustainable, organic and non-invasive cultivation and production techniques. Honoring the legacy of their forefather, Flavia and Giacomo want to spread the culture of quality wine by dedicating themselves completely to the creation of native Sicilian wines in which they blend past and present .
