No Love Lost Chardonnay, Home Ranch 2022 (750 ml)
No Love Lost Chardonnay, Home Ranch 2022 (750 ml)
The Home Ranch has become a special place for us and this wine is the reason why. Hot days towards the end of the season had this fruit coming in by early August. Freshness is key for us on this wine so nailing the correct pick date is crucial. The fruit was foot tread then pressed lightly and allowed to cold settle over 2 days. After which the juice was fed into neutral Burgundy barrels where it slowly began fermentation once the indigenous yeast set in to do their thing. The wine was then racked off of its lees and returned to the same barrels where it was allowed to rest for one year.

Vineyard notes
This Chardonnay comes from a sixth generation Dutch family farm with a
green thumb for whatever crop that has historically been in demand.
Appropriately named “The Home Ranch”, this ranch has been the literal
home for the family as they established roots in the area.
Freshness is key for us on this wine, so nailing the correct pick date is
crucial. Hot days towards the end of the season had this fruit coming in by
early August. Rich alluvial soils and balanced crop loads lead to happy
vines that produce a bright and fresh style of Chardonnay.

through the first two months after a slow, steady and healthy

A curious soul with creative inclinations, Jay Nunez, a first generation Cuban American from Orlando, Florida, found himself infatuated with the vinification process, sustainable agriculture, and the Napa Valley wine community. This infatuation turned into an obsession, leading him to leave the music industry and the East Coast behind to immerse himself in west coast wine culture. He first pursued formal Sommelier training and certifications spending his evenings bartending in the Valley. He took this knowledge and experience into the vineyard to create the style of wine he felt was missing from the Napa Valley.
Starting with a small corner in a friend's winery, his projects grew from one barrel to many, evolving from a passion project into a movement. These wine projects, along with exposure to the heart of the American wine industry, slowly revealed to him that less is more. These experiences molded his vision and led him into his current minimal interventionist perspective on winemaking. No Love's mission is to make wine approachable and attainable for anyone who is curious by creating an open and welcoming community. Their focus is not on prestige but rather on quality. They value and honor tradition but are not afraid to embrace innovation by challenging convention. Their goal is not to scale or disrupt but to inspire you to explore and discover yourself and wine one sip at a time.
