Statera 'Multa V' Chardonnay (750 ml)
Statera 'Multa V' Chardonnay (750 ml)
Our second release of our solera project. Multa V is a five year solera ('16, '17, '18, '19, '21) of Johan Chardonnay. It is easily the most complex and stunning wine we have made to date. Due to the fires we did not add a barrel to the solera in 2020, hence the gap year in release.
Winemaking: Multa V is a solera of the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021 vintages. Each year, grapes were whole cluster pressed, settled overnight, and fermented in neutral french barrels. Each vintage spent 16 months in barrel before being added to the solera system. The solera system was built by first combining a barrel from 2016 to a barrel from 2017, and then putting them back into barrels for continued aging. A year later, they were combined with a barrel from the 2018 vintage, and then put back to barrel, etc. The 2020 vintage was skipped due to the forest fires. This wine is truly one of a kind for the region.
Statera Cellars is owned and operated by two friends, Meredith Bell and Luke Wylde. Since 2014, it has been our mission to make delicious, honest Chardonnay from the most distinct vineyards in our region. We are one of the only wineries in the Willamette Valley to exclusively make Chardonnay—we love the grape and want to showcase its potential and diversity in the Pacific Northwest. Our wines are made using natural and traditional winemaking practices, resulting in wines that are compelling and markedly alive.
We work with farmers who are true stewards of the land, who see the vineyard as part of an ecosystem, and do their best to grow grapes in a way that respects and celebrates diversity. We genuinely believe that these farmers get most of the credit for the quality of our wine.
